Born in Kazan, Russia, in 1918. 1923, the parents flee their country torn apart by civil war to San Francisco, USA. Studied international relations, served as a lieutenant colonel during the Second World War, then followed his study of literature and publication of his first novel. His last novel ‘False Flag’ was published in 2013. He was in the United States Foreign Service until 1969.
Boris has painted since the age of seven and at 18 studied under the famous portraitist Peter Ilyin. But it was only in 1969 that he was finally able to devote himself entirely to writing and painting. His first exhibition was in 1970. His paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolours primarily deal with landscapes and scenes from everyday life.
The painting of a market scene came into my possession thanks to my deceased parent’s relationship with artists in the USA of Russian descent.
