The Karat 36 was produced between 1948 and 1954 in several versions. Instead of the special carat cartridge one used now the standardized film type 135 , which immediately prevailed and is still available today
As a closure of the high-quality Compur shutter ( Compur Rapid or Synchro Compur ) with 1 / 500s was used as the shortest time. This was stretched simultaneously with the film transport lever. The fast focusing, film transport and simultaneous clamping of the shutter allowed for very fast image sequences, which made the camera very popular, especially among reporters. It was considered a precise and reliable work tool. However, this had its price: DM 398 , which in 1950 was about twice the monthly salary of a worker.
