Dark Age gold ring with garnet inlays
c. 6th century AD
Ring size: Q. Diameter: 1.9 cm
The flat shank widening slightly towards the bezel. The shoulders with circular cloisonné garnets, the cells ringed with fine twisted wire, two triangular clusters composed of six granules below and small clusters above. The bezel raised on six columns each composed of a pile of three granules, framed top and bottom by circles of twisted wire, set with a cabochon garnet.
