Amida Noyrai Buddha Zushi Box and 'Tak-e' Style Display Stand, Wood, Laquer and Gold Gilt - Japan - late 19th Century (Total Height 38cm)
Good condition, see description.

This is a beautiful, rare, genuine Japanese antique, Amida Noyrai Buddha, Zushi Box. This is in gold gilded wood and laquer, in a plain wooden laquered box.

The enimatic hand carved Buddha sits in perfect meditation atop a gilded lotus throne. His gilding has long worn mostly away, and now is dark with age. Behind him his gilded wave motif Manora, symbolising his radiant aura, is still gilded and made from pressed sheet copper.

The Zushi is displayed on a seperate, beautiful decorative stand, this is also hand made in wood. This is expertly carved in the style of Bamboo ( 'Tak-e'). This dates from the 21st century approximately ( Japanese or Chinese).

Part of an old family shrine, from a old rural house clearance sell, and imported directly from Japan by me.

A wonderful evocative genuine Buddhist antique, for the collector, altar, gift, or an impressive interior design statement.
