Mechanism sometimes blocks (due to its neutralisation...)
Tanning is entirely gone.
During the WW1 France and UK were short of handgun because their regular manufacturers could not fill out the applications. The British had ordered Colt revolvers new service in calibre .455, but Colt couldn’t deliver only 107.000 of them till 1917.
The France was in need of a revolver that could start the 8mm Lebel cartridge used in their service model of St Etienne 1892.
Since the Spanish copies were of good quality and could easily be produced in calibres used by the two nations, France and England and ordered huge amounts. The French chose the Colt and the S & W copies, both for with chamber for the 8mm Lebel cartridge.
European certificate of neutralisation at the new standards.
