Charlotte Perriand - catalogus tentoonstelling 1941 (1) - Sélection Tradition Création
Japan - 1920-1949 - Papier, Hessisch

The original catalogue is in good condition. Incredible and very rare archives of the work of Perriand, in this catalogue from the first Charlotte Perriand exhibition in 1941, in the Takashiyama department stores in Tokyo, 25th March, 1941. "Selection Tradition Creation"
This exhibition was staged by Charlotte Perriand and Junzo Sakakura.
Box, backed in jute, printed with an ideogram that means "Charlotte Perriand" in Japanese, fastens with 2 little bone horns.
Inside, an intact sleeve (but gusset damaged), containing 46 plates (drawings, photos, exhibition plans) on the 53 loose plates with original numbers. You discover here that the exhibition includes the works of Fernand Léger and Le Corbusier, friends who confided their works to the designer to try to find a market during this dramatic time in France.
The 7 missing plates, same format, numbering, thick paper, are from the Perriand archives in Paris (managed by her daughter Pernette). Just like the 13 pages of text in French, transcribed from the originals in the catalogue, with an authenticity stamp on each page from Archives Perriand. (the last 3 photos.)
Perriand explains and illustrates in this work her research process, her thoughts and reasons, sometimes critical, for creating objects and furniture in Japan, while giving them "modern" solutions.
The text also includes the details of the pages, all the models, the names, etc... An inexhaustible source of references.
Dim: 30 cm x 22.5 cm x 2.5 cm thick.
