Francesco De Nicola 1882 born in Musellaro, Abruzzo.
In Naples, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where he specialised in figure painting, dealing almost exclusively with the female image. He studied with Michele Cammarano and Paolo Vetri.
De Nicola’s female nudes today are still his major and particularly valuable works.
De Nicola becomes an expressive and sensitive figure painter, and preferably deals with the outdoor nude. He is also a good colourist, correct and confident draftsman.
He died in Naples in 1961.
The painting for sale, oil on re-lined canvas, was purchased in 2004 at the Meeting auction house, which issued a certificate of authenticity. Certificate available, please look at the photos.
