Painting of the great Coriolano Vighi from a private collection.
The picture is new and has never been in any exhibition.

Coriolano Vighi (Florence 1852 - Bologna 1905), a painter with an overall lucky life. A singular exponent of the "late romanticism" of Bologna, he was able to mix with great skill, in his paintings, the poetic and dreamy sense of life with the naturalistic religion of truth. The fame definitely brought him wealth.
Few Bolognese could afford one of his works. The Kaiser, the Tsar, the duke of Aosta, the future king Vittorio Emanuele III and, in 1900, the queen Elena, had in their collections paintings of Vighi. His intelligence and poetic sensitivity, administered and measured by an extraordinary critical sense, made him a famous and at the same time sought after painter.

“...Cercate nel futuro
il testamento del genio:
meteorologo del tempo della verità
il pittore nasconde il suo valore
nella dignità misteriosa della natura…”

(from Ritratto poetico di Coriolano Vighi - Gabriele Via)
