Giorgio Flis (born in Giaveno, 7 May 1941 - 17 April 2016).
He started to paint as a self-taught painter in 1965 according to the realism canons.
In 1968, under the guidance of master Cesare Gennay (painter of the school of Montmartre in Paris, the favourite pupil of master Gen Paul), he dabbled in the French expressionist art.
In 1975, after various researches on conceptual art, Arte Povera, cubism and post-cubism, Flis came to informal art after intense and in-depth studies of the works of great masters such as: Mirò, Picasso, Moreni, Chighine, Burri, Hartung, Dubuffet and many others, taking those details closer to his artistic tendency from each of them, to come to “his technique”.
