Beautiful outstanding wooden statue of Amida 阿弥陀仏, Buddha of infinite light and life

Large statue: 39cm high
In gold lacquered wood representing the Buddha depicted in a standing position, cast in the front with drapery falling from the chest in u-shaped folds, both hands in Vitarka Mudra, the gesture of discussion and transmission of Buddhist teaching, the eyes downcast in a meditative expression all supported on a lotusthrone. Backed by a fine removable mandorla decorated with stylized clouds.
In very good condition for its age.
39 cm high, 13,5 cm wide and 9,5 cm deep.
Amida is a celestial buddha according to the scriptures of Mahayana Buddhism. Amida possesses infinite merits resulting from good deeds over countless past lives. Amida is the head of the Lotus family.
