Daum, Nancy, France, Magnificent bud vase circa 1891, with decoration in greyish enamel. Vase on heel with a quatrefoil base on an opalescent acid washed background. Neck painted in gold.

This refined single-flower vase borrowed its decor from the iconography of the painters of the 18th century. Daum illustrated his pieces with small country paintings, fables of La Fontaine, lake landscapes.

The pieces produced by Daum were enamelled by the remarkable artist called DUFOUR, who was enormously successful during that time.”
