The Olivetti Lettera 35 is a portable typewriter made and designed by the designer Mario Bellini, from 1972.
The Italian version of the typewriter used the QZERTY layout. With 43 alphanumeric keys for a total of 86 signs. In addition to these, the keyboard includes a space bar, two keys to set the capital letters, a key to block the capital letters, a lever to exceed the set margins, a key to go backwards by one character, a lever to set the tabs and a key (red) to pass from one tab to another.
The set of characters available has obvious shortcomings: there is not the key with the number 1 that is obtained by using the lower case letter l (L) or the capital I (i); in the same way there is no zero, which is obtained by typing the capital O (o); there are also no keys for accented upper-case vowels used in the Italian language. This type of solution was quite common in typewriters of the time.
