A bronze sculpture depicting a Satyr. After finding some statues in the excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum, in the 50s and 60s, the Chiurazzi foundry was commissioned to make bronzes from the casts found underground. At auction is the 'dancing satyr', also known as 'the intoxicated satyr'.
This foundry has been active for about 200 years and has worked alongside great sculptors of the Neapolitan school, including V. Gemito, V. Cinque, Amendola, De Martino, etc
The sculpture has beautiful features, eyes, nose, ears and eyebrows.
Signed on the right: Chiurazzi Napoli, with stamp (coat of arms of the foundry)
