Officer's rifle Charleville 1777 modified to IX or 9 by Devisme Paris:
Total length: 143 cm
Barrel length: 103 cm
calibre: 17 mm
Weight: 3.1 kg
This is a rifle, made by Devisme in Paris circa 1840, that is lighter than the regulatory infantry model (17 mm calibre instead of 17.5 mm)
The officers' rifles differed according to the soldiers. They were all very finely made and were lighter than the troop rifle.
Lock plate with flat body signed “Devisme à Paris” and hammer with a round body.
All embellishments and rod are made of iron pear head.
Walnut stock with cheek.
Mechanism in perfect condition, complete and functional without any play, very firm springs.
Smooth and round barrel, with thunder sides, in decent interior condition with light oxidation.
Varnished wood in very good condition, no lacks.
This weapon has never been touched up, it is in lovely original condition with an unchanging patina.
