Jacob Willem (de) Gruijter was born in 1856 in Amsterdam. He died in 1908 in Egmond aan Zee. He lived and worked in Amsterdam until 1807, then he moved to Egmond. He was a pupil of his father Willem Gruijter jr. and visited the Quellinusschool Amsterdam, headed by J. von Braet Ueberfelt and V. Bing Jacob Gruijter mainly painted sea and river scenes, mostly with ships.
The painter's most beautiful painting!
As 19th-century ships emerge in the fog,
and as the full moon comes out of the fog and illuminates a little bit of its surroundings,
really phenomenal work!
Signature is on the bottom right,
the painting is in excellent condition I can post it in a nice antique wooden frame!
