English cavalry flintlock carbine or musket TOWER type PAGET:
Length: 87 cm
Barrel: 51 cm
Calibre: 19 mm (.75)
The Paget carbine was distinguished by its very short size. While this made it easier to load and to arm, it also made it very imprecise.
This one is longer (10 cm longer) but it has the same features: short size and joined rod.
Rare rifle in this calibre (same calibre as the brown bess infantry rifle), most are .65.
Metal parts: patinated, no oxidation spots or peau d'orange, all markings are visible.
Lock punched with the GR crown (George Rex, King George III) and the markings “Tower Proof” and Warranted.
Thunder with WSF marking and well-marked punches
The hammer has a flat body decorated with lines, brass fittings.
Mechanism is in very good condition, complete and functional without any play, very tight springs.
Wood in good condition, healthy with some signs of use, all the markings are still present.
A chip was re-stuck on the side of the trigger guard, a small hole was previously filled behind the breech tail.
Barrel is smooth and round and in very good condition, very thick.
Note: the pivoting attachment for the rod is missing.
The musket is in its original condition, well-preserved, lovely old patina.
