Named “Trade Wind beads” due to the use of monsoon winds for navigation, these beads were shipped throughout the Indian Ocean, especially to East, West and South African coastal ports. The beads on this strand have been recovered from ship wrecks on the coast of Zanzibar.
They are hand made beads, made in southeast Asia between X th-XVIII th Century. Irregular and various in size and shape with an average diameter of 4mm. Beads are yellow, blue, aqua-green and rusty red.
Temporary strung. Good used condition.
Will be carefully wrapped and shipped with track and trace.
