Apulische Canosan Keramiek Oinochoe Dorata
Apulian, Canosa, 325-300 BC

Large Apulian beaked oinochoe (shape VI) – so called oinochoe dorata – with conical neck and slightly concave body. The oblique spout with small flange below the lip.
The base molding is cursorily made. The unfished base was detached from the wheel with a string.
The surface is ‘gilded’ with a yellow wash to imitate metal prototypes. Similar examples are known from Canosa.
