Wakizashi - Antiek Japans zwaard in koshirae.
Fine looking healthy old Koto blade with a nice curvature (sori) and shape.

It is in remarkable good condition and there are no visible forging errors, no chip or crack and "cutting edge" is still very sharp.
The Suguba hamon is good strong and has a slightly wavy line which indicates old swords.
The kissaki is healthy with strong boshi (okissaki = large).
The nagako with double punched hole has good patination, mei reads:
Bizen-Koku, which is the old name of the Okayama prefecture.
Bizen is well known as a center for forging katanas.
The card is a registration certificate belonging to this wakizashi.

Two menuki’s braided in the ito of the handle are dragon figures.
The kashira and fuchi have the same motifs. Small remains of gold can still be seen.

To the best of our knowledge we have tried to verify the signature, the signature of the sword is not guaranteed as there are no NBTHK or NTHK origami (certification paper) to go with the sword.
To be reasonably certain as to the maker of a specific sword, it is necessary to submit the sword for shinsa (judging) by one of the major Japanese sword study associations (NBTHK or NTHK). These organizations will judge the sword and issue appropriate papers (origami) attesting to the swords authenticity and/or historical importance.
