Robert Combas was educated at the School of Fine Arts in Montpellier. Part of the movement developed by the Free Figuration, his painting is halfway between the world of comics and the world of rock.
In his tangles, he inserts images and words, even his titles are thought of as poetry: “La République de mon cœur !”
Still life, mythology, history, no genre seems to be unexplored. Constantly fuelling debates on the art scene, it breaks with all the theories and practices of Contemporary Art. He enjoy upsetting and destabilizing hierarchies and conventions, both in the artistic field and from the point of view of proprieties.
