History: From the 17th to the end of the 19th century,
loaves of bread were hygienically stored
in copper bread kettles.
Copper has a permanent antibacterial effect and
protects against fungal infestation and rotting bacteria.
For this reason, even today,
water pipes are made of copper.
To protect the bread from copper patina,
the bread kettle was tinned inside.
