Guidalberto Tenuta San Guido can be considered as the brother of Sassicaia, not for a lower quality but for a different drinkability compared to the top wine of the Bolgheri winery. Guidalberto, which takes its name from Nicolò della Gherardesca's great-grandfather, has led the estate for decades. Produced with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, in pure Bordeaux style, this wine saw the first bottle born in 2000.
Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto sees its vineyards persist in soils rich in galestro, limestone and clays at an altitude between 100 and 300 meters above sea level. The harvest is done manually, begins with Merlot in late August, then continuing in September with Cabernet Sauvignon. The selection and selection of the best grapes is carried out in the cellar followed by a soft pressing and destemming of the bunches. The fermentation that takes place without adding external yeasts is activated inside steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 26 and 28 ° C. After a maceration of about 15 days for Merlot and 10-13 for Cabernet Sauvignon, frequent pumping over of the musts is carried out which are then poured into French and American barriques for 15 months.
A brilliant ruby red is the signature of Guibalberto Tenuta San Guido, a wine that expresses an airtight youth. When brought to the nose, the fullness of the Merlot fruit immediately strikes and intoxicates the spirit, which is further strengthened by notes of coffee and Mediterranean scrub embroidery. As soon as you sip, you are struck by the tannic power of this wine, which is not rude and is firm and persistently persistent. Guidalberto is the emblem of a territory that lies on the Tuscan hills but which enjoys the influence of the Tyrrhenian Sea, a wine that is the ideal spouse of the gastronomy of the area, where strong and decisive flavors need a sip with imperial vigor .
