A fascinating late 19th Century compendium describing the wonders of Palestine, giving detailed accounts which include the Biblical history of many towns and places of the Holy Lands in Palestine.
First Edition. This scarce copy is beautifully illustrated with tissue-guarded frontispiece, decorative colour title page, and upwards of one hundred and fifty wood engravings and a series of full-page coloured plates. Published by Frederick Warne & Co., London, 1893. Decorative dark green cloth with ornate gold and black illustrations and lettering to front board and spine. Brilliant gilt all page edges.

Solid and well bound volume. Wear and faded marks on covers with rubbing and bumping to corners. Internally the book is in good condition. An inscription with ink on second free end paper. Foxing only to free end papers, and the tissue-guarded of the frontispiece, with occasional spotting to few pages. Pages are tightly held at the gutter, and edged in gilt. . Inner hinges are very good. The text and plates are clean and bright (Please see pictures).
