Antique French clock made of mercury gilt bronze and patinated zamak. Late 19th century. Openwork base with rich floral decoration, two marble plates and two embossed bronze cupids. Upper landscape scene depicting a gallant getting engaged to a lady. On the scene there is a cartouche with an engraved sentence: ‘Chemin des Promesses’ (path of promises). 8-day Paris mechanism, thread pendulum bell chimes on the hour and half-hour. In working order and with key. White porcelain dial with black Roman numerals. Breguet-type hands. Gorgeous antique preserved in very good condition and highly decorative. 47 x 30 x 13 cm.
