Majestic ewer (44 x 23 x 23 cm) in Sheffield silver plate from the first half of the 20th century. From the hallmark, one can deduce that it is of British manufacture and can likely be attributed to the silversmith company William Padley & Sons, which was operative in Sheffield in the early 1900s and created various prototypes for this item.
Sturdy and refined due to the classical and linear style which distinguishes it, the ewer has been professionally polished. Its handle, with three curves, and the convex shape of the central section are unique features.
The lot is in good condition: it has minor signs of wear on the outside and stains on the inside on the bottom, which are difficult to remove due to how small the lip is.
As you can see from the photos, it blends in perfectly with all styles of furnishing, from modern to ethnic, and this makes it a perfect, unmissable item for collectors of this type of object.
The photos are an integral part of the description.
Purchased in an antique store in London in 1997.
