Condition: fair, with wear on the spine, weak hinges. The front cover is detached, back cover with weak hinges. Spine restored with pH-neutral Japanese paper tape, reversible and adequate restoration. It has writings of the former owners: the ex libris signature, comments and notes on the margins.

Complete, intact, minor stains of natural foxing, no tears.

On the uniqueness of this collection of poems: Pablo Neruda recounts how these verses were developed more than 10 years ago, and how were influenced by Uruguayan poet Carlos Sabat Ercasty. Neruda disassociates himself from this primitive poetry in a way. On the other hand, he tells that the content of El hondero entusiasta was much longer, and the manuscripts of a large part of his work were lost.
