Outstanding pottery "mingqi" representing a painted pottery model of a caparisoned horse with bridle and blanketed saddle.

Grey earthenware coated with white slip and remains of blue, orange, white, black and red pigment.

- The results of thermoluminescence tests are consistent with the dating of this object. Tang Dynasty (618-907). Sampling of 3 different parts - back of the horse, rider, chin of the horse.

Provenance: very important and old private Dutch collection, Mr. J.A.W V. , Amsterdam

The spirited horse covered in a white slip and standing foursquare. The rider seated solidly in the saddle with feet stretched forward in the stirrups, her body forward at the waist and dressed in a long blue, white and red tight-fitting tunic above white boots. She is blowing into a mouth-organ (pai xiao) - extremely rear, the softly modelled face detailed in red and black pigment on a white slip beneath the black hair drawn up in a knot.
