YONGZHENG period circa 1722-1725
lot from the Ca Mau shipwreck of a Chinese junk in 1725, probably en route from Canton to the Dutch port
trading harbour of Batavia (now Jakarta). The wreckage was
discovered by fishermen working on the Ca Mau Peninsula when
their nets got caught in it. The large majority of the pieces feature the
Sotheby's Amsterdam tag from the January 29, 30 and 31, 2007 auction and
an inscription with a reference number written down by the Vietnamese
curators. As you can see from the photos of each lot, certain pieces
present marine concretions due to their long immersion in the
