Mosstowie was produced at the Miltonduff distillery, using the so-called Lomond Stills.
They were installed in 1964, but already abandoned in 1981 as there was no demand from other blenders and the rectifying plates in the still were very hard to clean.
Most of the liquid went into the famous Ballantine’s blend, but some single malt was bottled by independent bottlers, like this one from Signatory.
This is a Mosstowie from 1979, bottled after 36 years from single bourbon barrel #25758 in 2016, that yielded only 178 bottles.
