Rare pair of stone Foo dogs that functioned as base for large Chinese doors, possibly of a temple or important house. The poles of the doors would turn inside the bowls on the back of the Foo dogs. They were made with extreme craftmanship considering the fine engravings in this very hard type of stone.
They easily date from the early to mid Qing Dynasty, but they could be older Considering the extreme age wear.
Condition: age wear and missing parts as visible in the pictures.
Will be packed securely and shipped registered and insured.
Weight: 16 kg. This explains the high shipping cost outside the EU.
