Flaminio Bertoni (Masnago, January 10, 1903 - Antony, February 7, 1964) was an Italian designer, sculptor and painter. He is universally considered as one of the greatest car designers of all time.
Born in Masnago (Varese), as soon as he obtained his technical diploma, in 1918, Bertoni entered the Carrozzeria Macchi body shop as an apprentice. Five years later, given the creativity of the young designer, some French technicians visiting the Macchi body shop urged him to gain experience in France.
Bertoni introduced himself to André Citroen showing his patent for pneumatic windows lifting. He was hired immediately.
