Le Médecin familier et sincère, divisé en deux parties.
Turin & Genève, Henri-Albert Gosse et comp., 1747.
2 parts in 1 duodecimo volume (18.5 x 12 cm), marbled lambskin (period binding), decorated spine with raised bands, all edges red, -176 pages (complete). Worn headcap, tailcap and corners, light dampstain on the corners of some sheets. Quite decent condition.
First French edition based on the 1741 edition from Turin, of this medical guide for practitioners, the military and the general public.
Benoît Voysin was a doctor and professor of surgery in Annecy.
His guide is divided into parts, the first contains the method to healing oneself of the most frequent sicknesses and to keep oneself well, the second deals with thee pox and all of the different venereal diseases.
This book was also a way for the author to advertise. At the end there is a page with the cost of the book and its great usefulness, followed by a list of cities where offices were set up and where one could purchase the author’s remedies.
A pleasant copy.
