A nice ‘Ex carne’ relic containing the flesh of Saint Joseph of Cupertino, the “flying friar”.
In the Catholic tradition he is called "the Saint of flights", because of the levitation that, according to the chronicles of the time, he would have performed in a state of ecstasy and that procured him the trial before the Holy Office for abuse of popular credulity, from which however he was acquitted.
He is also considered the patron saint of students, because he was consecrated a priest after passing the exams with difficulty, which was considered prodigious for the challenges he encountered, despite his commitment to study; this is why he is invoked by Catholic students during their exams. He possessed the gift of infused science. He suggested to a great Franciscan theologian: “When you start studying or writing repeat: “Lord you are the Spirit and I am the trumpet. “But without your breath, nothing is resounding.”
On 9 July 1657 he was returned to his brethren and sent to Osimo where he died. His body is kept in the crypt of the shrine, inside a golden bronze urn.
