Richard Morton, an English physician famous for his studies on tuberculosis. The first doctor after Galen to deal with it, he discovered the tubercles, as he reported in 1689 in "Phthisiologia", here present among other texts. He was also the first to describe many diseases that are well known today. In 1694 he spoke of "nervous consumption", what we now call "anorexia nervosa", for which he emphasised the need for an adequate diet, a healthy environment and moderate exercise, an approach that is confirmed in today's medical practice.
