Ancient railway horn. It comes from an old Southeast Italian train station. It was no longer used as the station had been fully automated. The construction of the stretch of railway that crosses the Valle d'Itria dates back to the beginning of the last century and took place in two moments. The Putignano-Locorotondo section, an extension of the Bari-Putignano line, was finished in 1903, while it was necessary to wait for the end of the First World War, to see the Locorotondo-Martina-Francavilla section completed, it was 1924.
Today it is a magical place surrounded by greenery, between trulli and bougainvillea.
Completely original. It is equipped with an iron bell, which distributed the sound emanating from a copper sphere. The sphere was struck by a system activated by magnetic fields produced by two copper coils, placed on a solid brass support. The mechanism was divided by a wooden base. Please note the cotton links. Over the years it has been painted several times. It has undergone a thorough cleaning. Connected to electricity, it turned out to be working.
Dimensions: height 27 cm, width 16 cm, depth 22 cm, sphere diameter 9 cm. Weight: approx. 4 kg.
