Chris Marker (1921-2012)
A very nice image by Chris marker who documented May 1968 in his own way, creating a lot of film around May 1968.
The poetry of this image is striking and reminiscent of that of Claude Raymond Dityvon's "infirmier".
Even though he’s world-renowned as a filmmaker, part of his work consists of the use of photography. Between 1956 when he published his first portfolio Clair de Chine and the exhibition Passengers à New York in the Peter Blum galleries in 2011, he published five photo collections, Les Coréennes (1959), La Renfermée, La Corse (1981), Le Dépays (1982), Staring Back (2007) and Passengers (2011). Four of these collections are accompanied by text by the artist as is the case in all of Marker’s production. No matter what the medium, photography is part of a broader approach then the exploitation of a single mode of expression.
