John Demos photographed traditions in Greece during the 1980s as part of his body of work "Shadows of Silence". This work as shown at the Arles Festival, as well at the Houston Fotofest and in London, Moscow, Bratislava, Athens, Denmark, and numerous other cities. A series of these prints was purchased by the FNAC galleries as well as the Centre Pompidou.

John Demos' work is also in the collections of the Gulbenkian, Houston Fotofest, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Maison Europeene de la Photographie, as well as in numerous private collections.
