The France and Germany Star medal is a military campaign medal, instituted by the United Kingdom in 1945 for award to subjects of the British Commonwealth who served during the Second World War in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands or Germany and adjacent sea areas between 06-06-1944 and 08-05-1945.
The frontside shows the crowned Royal Cypher 'GRI-VI' , surrounded by the text 'The France and Germany Star.
The backside is smooth.
Together with a cupro-nickel or silver Defence Medal (instituted in 1945).
This medal has the effigy of King George-VI, with the legend 'GEORGIVS.VI.D.G.BR.OMN.REX.F.D.IND.IMP'.
The medals are with their original, used ribbons.
Diameter Star medal is ca. 43 mm.
Diameter Defence medal is ca. 37 mm.
The metal is non-ferrous.
Both medals are in a very good, uncleaned, original condition (see the photo's).
