Up for auction is a rare first edition of Don Quixote de la Mancha, illustrated by Salvador Dalí.
“Don Quixote, written by Miguel de Cervantes, is considered to be Spain’s most important work of literature and the first truly modern novel. The story takes place in sixteenth – century Spain and details the exploits of the self-proclaimed knight Don Quixote of La Mancha and his faithful squire Sancho Panza.”
Inside the book is in in very good condition. One small tare on one page. (See Picture)
There is a few nicks on the dustjacket (which is in plastic), and on the bottom of the spine there is some small wear. (See Pictures)
This is a very nice copy of this collectible book.
The book contains 10 colored double page illustration's. (From Watercolor painting by Dali)
They have no text on the back of the illustration, and the paper of the illustration's are in better quality then the rest of the pages in the book.
In addition there are 31 illustrations in Black and White. (From drawings by Dali)
These are among the standard pages, in various sizes.
It seems to have been in a dry and good environment, There is no discoloration inside the book.
The condition on the inside of the book, is one of the better I have seen on such an old book.
