The Teke people, found primarily in the Democratic Republic of Congo, are part of the Kidumu tribe, known for its spiritual values. In many spiritually important ritual events, ceremonies and activities, fetish figures played an important role. Three elements differentiate the Teke fetish figures (buti) from others: the variety of headwear, the exquisite parallel verification on the cheeks, known as mabina, and the addition of spiritually empowering substances called Bonga.
