An original edition that has become rare, of this work by Ernest Maindron which proposes a necessarily condensed study of the history of puppets since antiquity. An interesting part is devoted to the Black Cat with the list of pieces donated between 1887 and 1897. The edition is illustrated with 8 colour plates, including one in frontispiece, 24 black planks and numerous figures in the text.
