Masculine Statuette, Akan culture, Ghana Height: 35 cm.
Charming figurine of a young Akan man from Ghana. The face is smooth, smiling and benevolent. The arms along the body, the figure seems to be waiting. The volumes are finely carved, this is a successful sculpture. Please note the ethnic scarifications on the lower abdomen. The face bears traces of paint and faded white pigments. A necklace ornaments the neck. The arm was locally restored with a nail. Beautiful ancient and authentic piece of collection. Around 1940.
