The Dan mask being offered here, also called gunyeya, is a so-called runner’s mask and is used in running competitions
. The face of the mask is made of wood and painted a dark colour. The textile edge goes all the way round and is decorated with lots of cowrie shells. A small feather crown gives the mask a majestic appearance.
