Superb set of beautifully executed and watercoloured plates on fine paper after drawings by Samuel Holden (1836-1889)

The condition of the plates is excellent. The paper is strong and still in pristine conditions.

Beautifully hand coloured plates superbly finished with an egg white wash to preserve the colors.

The plates are bright and clean with the exceptional, vibrant original hand colouring.

Holden was a prolific illustrator who made many artworks expecially of orchids. His work, which his well represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum, has a cold brilliance that is impressive rathar then attractive.
