African Tabwa Figurine, DRC Congo (former Zaire)
Magnificent figurine with a wonderful patina of wear.
The Tabwa are a people of fishermen and farmers, they exchange their products with two other ethnic groups of forgers, hunters, pickers and woodcutters. They live near the Mweru and the Tanganyka Lakes.
The Tabwa form a small people of central Africa, mainly present in the southeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Figurine full of serenity, with a smooth face, well-proportioned, with beautiful traces of wear. Magnificent balance between the forms and the volumes. Marvellous hairdo, some parts are very finely and precisely carved.
