China - Dolk

A Sino Vietnamese dagger - Southern China, Northern Vietnam, late 19th early 20th century

This type of knife is usually attributed to the pirates called "pavillons noirs". They were mainly Chinese irregular troops and pirates who fought French in the South of China and North of Vietnam during and after the Tonkin campaign (starting in 1883).

But we can reasonably think this type of knife was largely used in the border area between China and Vietnam.

Grips is made of cattle horn. Sheath is made of thick leather.
