African Baule/Yaure mask from Ivory Coast.
This mask was taken out to dance in farmers’ rejoicing festivities to celebrate the good harvests and to implore the Gods for the next ones to be good as well.
Very interesting bird crest, symbol of fertility, good harvests and births of new children.
Scarification on the temples.
Finely carved hairdo.
It comes on its handmade stand.
This mask is representative of Baule art, with a lovely balance between the forms and the volumes, as well as finely carved details.
