Joseph BEUYS (Krefeld 1921 - Düsseldorf 1986)
Joseph Beuys was a very important German artist. He was known as one of the most influential German artists of the second half of the 20th century. He had a moving past behind him. In 1936 he became a member of the Hitlerjugend, where he also once played the cello in an orchestra of the Hitlerjugend. After studying at the art academy in Düsseldorf, he graduated as a Meisterschüler from Ewald Mataré. Joseph Beuys' work was usually created in such a way that it aroused strong discussions and opinions in the public.
He was also a teacher at the Düsseldorf art academy, with an important influence on his students.
