Extremely rare 1916 film poster of the silent film "Carmela la sartina di Montesanto" by Elvira Notari (1875-1946), the first Italian woman director, author of about 100 films between 1906 and 192 which had a great success in Italy and South America among the Italian emigrants.
Elvira Notari is considered the forerunner of cinematographic Neorealism.
With the advent of Fascism, censorship hindered her work and even the "sound" blocked her production house.
Another very rare poster of this film is kept in the Museo della Cineteca di Bologna (IT).
At the silent era, the posters followed the film in the distribution of the film and the small holes in the nails are proof of these posters.
