Icon, Russian icon.
"Mother of God of Kazan", probably Northern Russia, mid-19th century
The icon of our Lady of Kazan (in Russian: Казанская Богоматерь) is an icon that is particularly revered by the Orthodox Church, especially by the Russian Church. Dating from 1572. It is also venerated by Catholics, although its celebration is exclusively included in the Orthodox liturgical calendar. Two large cathedrals are dedicated to her in Moscow and St. Petersburg
Tempera on wooden panel. It is a very particular technique that has been handed down since Antiquity, there are small adjustments and defects, nothing that detracts from the overall aspect to be mentioned.
